Many states have record retention periods of <strong>50 years or less<\/strong>, but in some places there may be stricter restrictions. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Death records<\/strong>: These typically have shorter retention periods, often <strong>50 years or less<\/strong>.
