The third volume of the history of Fyllingsdalen is about the most dramatic period in the district's history. Six main chapters tell the story of occupation, everyday life, resistance at home and abroad, Russian prisoners of war and those who chose the wrong side during the war. The seventh chapter deals with the settlements after the war with financial compensation and with several stories about the upbringing of children during and immediately after the war. The eighth chapter tells of the «war after the war»; the period when Fyllingsdalen was torn away from Fana municipality and incorporated into Bergen municipality. Finally, we have a chapter that provides a broad and important insight into the natural conditions that surround us Fyllingsdøler. The attraction of the Løvstakk, its geological history and special features of the landscape are presented and illustrated. The nature chapter provides a thorough insight into plant life, animal life and bird life, with a concluding chapter on the climate in the valley. The book tells of drama and painful events, but ends with descriptions of the beautiful nature that surrounds us. Our goal is to give people in Fyllingsdalen stronger roots and a sense of belonging to the place where they live.
