As this is a collaboration with «brightsolid», which is behind payment sites such as findmypast.co.uk and genesreunited.co.uk, anyone who does not have the opportunity to visit the British Library will have to pay a small fee.
The 40 million newspapers that will now be digitized are distributed across 52,000 different newspaper titles. The newspapers have previously been transferred to microfilm, which alone amounts to 45 km of shelves.
