The Royal Library (KB) has received financial support from Sparbanksstiftelsen Skaraborg to digitize several issues of Skara tidning. The newspaper's editions from 1908 to 1930 will now be available in the digital service Svenska tidningar.
The newspaper functioned as a local newspaper for Skara and the former Skaraborg county and surrounding area. Today, around 300,000 people live in the geographical area, which also housed many who emigrated to Norway during the great labor migration that took place from Sweden to Norway in the latter half of the 1800s and early 1900s.
The period 1863-1907 is already available in the service. When the later years are also published, it will provide more coherent source material for anyone researching people and communities in Skaraborg. This is reported by the Swedish Association of Genealogists, read the case in its entirety here.
Publication of the new vintages is planned during 2026 and will be available via Swedish newspapers.
