Genealogy platform MyHeritage has launched MyStories, a service that allows users to collect their memories and life stories in a printed book.
The service works by the user receiving an email a week with a question related to personal experiences, such as childhood memories or important life events. The answers are saved and can be supplemented with photos before being collected in a book. The questions are customizable and the user decides which stories to include.
MyStories is designed to be easy to use, even for people with limited technical experience. Since responses are delivered via email, no specialized knowledge or access to advanced digital tools is required.
According to MyHeritage, the purpose of the service is to give individuals an opportunity to document their own memories and experiences. Many genealogists emphasize written sources such as censuses and church records, but oral histories and personal reflections are often not preserved to the same extent.
MyStories can be used by individuals who want to write their life story, or by families who want to document the memories of older generations for posterity.
The service is currently only available in English, but MyHeritage plans to support more languages in the future.
