Not so much rest in the final resting place?

In 1790, a woman named Mary Ellis moved to New Brunswick in New Jersey, USA. She lived with her sister and eventually became romantically involved with a local sailor and captain.

When duty called for the captain and he eventually had to set sail down the Raritan River, he promised Mary Ellis to return. Every day she rode to the river to look for her loved one, but he never returned. When she died in 1828 she of the family buried in a peaceful area near the river.

Today, the grave no longer lies in a peaceful spot by the river, but in a parking lot at one of New Jersey's many shopping malls. Eternal rest is probably the privilege of few.
