Paradigm shift in Norwegian genealogy

In collaboration with the National Archives of Norway, MyHeritage has indexed Norwegian church records for the period 1815-1938. In total, there are 42.2 million church book entries that you now don't have to look for, but instead can easily search for.

Searching MyHeritage's new collection is free, but if you want to see more of the content hidden behind the hit list, you need a Data or Complete subscription to MyHeritage.

In fact, if you have a family tree on MyHeritage, you don't even need to search for relatives. MyHeritage's Record Matching technology will automatically notify you if entries in church records match your relatives.

The church book entries include births and baptisms, marriages, deaths and burials.

MyHeritage's global collection of family history records thus increases to 12.6 billion.

Here you can search in Norwegian church books from 1815-1938.

Please note that you can also search the indexed parish registers free of charge directly at Digitalarkivet.
