The newest addition to the «Find your family» service here at Slekt1 is Bilboken for Bergen og Hordaland 1938. The book contains over 5,000 cars and their owners, as well as some motorcycles that rolled on the roads of Bergen and Hordaland in 1938.

Not long ago, the 1932 Car Book for Bergen and Hordaland was also made searchable here on Slekt1. If you compare the two car books, you can see that the number of cars and motorcycles doubled from 1932 to 1938 in Bergen and Hordaland. Although the number was still modest compared to what it would become, there was a tremendous growth in the number of owners of motorized vehicles in the period leading up to World War II.
The car book offers interested parties the opportunity to explore the history of both families and vehicles from the region. Each entry includes the owner's name, any titles or occupations, residential address (in some cases also street address), the make of the car and its use, as well as the registration number.
