A new UiO-produced radio series on NRK P2 tells Norwegian history from a Sami perspective. Premiere on November 4.
Norway has always been a multicultural society. In this program series, we look at Norwegian history from a Sami perspective, and we ask:
- How did Sami culture come about?
- How did it survive pressure from the state and society at large?
- How did the Sami become an indigenous people?
Through thirteen episodes stretching from the Stone Age to the present day, historians examine Sámi culture, social life and trade routes. The story is seen in the light of broad international, regional and national contexts.
