Didrik Holgersen from Bergen bought Greenpoint in Brooklyn from the Native Americans.

It is difficult to say what Dirck Volckertsen would have called himself if he had introduced himself in Norway; perhaps he would have been called Didrik Holgersen. In any case, this Norwegian has been given the name Dirck Volckertsen for posterity, a name that has become established in the history books of New York and the surrounding area.
