Gravestone appeared in antique shop

The headstone was made for William John French who died, aged just two, on October 15, 1878. William was the son of Frederick and Elizabeth French who had also previously lost an eight-month-old daughter in April 1875. However, two younger siblings of William John French grew up.

The Canadian antiques dealer who bought the headstone for 50 Canadian dollars (about 270 Norwegian kroner) was told by the headstone seller that it had been found in the forest. However, he now has no plans to sell it on. Instead, he will return the headstone to his family.
