This book tells the story of the families of 20 of the 47 cadastral farms in Åsane from 1519 to 1960, and is the third in the series on farm and family history from Åsane. There will be five volumes in total. The farms included in this volume are: Teigland, Eikås, Birkeland, Hetlebakke, Blindheim, Flaktveit, Li, Hjortland, Rolland, Myrdal, Ulset (Ulvesæter), Saurås, Angeltveit, Mellingen, Vesterlid, Espelid, Baugtveit (Bogetveit), Hitland, Nordre Toppe and Søre Toppe. An account is given of property ownership and who lived on or owned the various properties in Åsane. Cabin properties are also included. The book provides information about family relationships, and shows that the people on the farms could come from other parts of Åsane, but also from Bergen, Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane. There have been many foster children in Åsane. They are also included. Other groups included are servants, crofters, Indians and people who rented accommodation in Åsane for a shorter or longer period. The land registers help to tell part of the history of people in Åsane. In the period 1640-1800, there are good and illustrative examples of property disputes, neighbor disputes, male abuse and wife abuse. The deeds that have been reviewed cover the period 1702-1850. Here we learn what the individual farmer and farmer's wife left behind. A recurring theme is that there was a lot of silver and silver objects in the estates.
