Publisher's description:
«Sund på søre Sotra», yes, that's how the municipality of Sund is located, on the southern part of the island of Sotra west of Bergen. The book title is taken from the sonnet by Johannes Kleppevik. Sund used to be an island and coastal community where the sea played an important role, alongside what farming could provide. It is a completely different society that we encounter today. Bridges and roads have been built, and varied workplaces, services and cultural offerings have emerged. The transition from the old farming and agricultural society has been gradual. This book is a farm and family history, and will in its own way provide a glimpse of this transformation process. Volume 2 contains around 900 images, giving a varied impression of people, working life and cultural landscapes. There are tables, charts, maps and indexes in the book. The information in the book has been updated up to 2013.
