Åmli municipality had originally planned to engage local history author Egil Fiane until 2014, but before Christmas, the municipal council decided that work on the remaining local history books for Åmli should be completed as early as 2011. Fiane told Agderposten that he believes they will finish the book about Øvrebygda in Åmli before the politicians call a halt to the project.
The history of Øvrebygda is particularly marked by forestry and extensive immigration from Flåbygd in Lunde.
The budget cuts mean that politicians currently do not have the funds to write their own local history books for significant parts of Åmli, such as the central areas.
