Slekt1 has previously written about the Norwegian emigrants to New Zealand and the difficult life they had in the new country. By the end of 1873, most were established on their own 40-acre farms. Gradually, more Scandinavians arrived in the area and by 1878 they accounted for over 1 % of New Zealand's population.
