Soon you'll be able to search for whether your relatives had a car in 1935. Slekt1 is currently having Norway's 1935 car book indexed and, at the time of writing, all cars registered in the city of Oslo in 1935 are searchable.
Norway's car book 1935 you will find searchable under the service «Find family». A scanned version of the book can be found on the Digital Archive's website.
In Norges bilbok 1935 you can not only find the name of the car's owner, but also his or her address. For the car itself, you can find the make, model year, purpose for which the car was used, registration number and location.
The car above was photographed by Anders Beer Wilse on a summer day in 1935. In Norges bilbok 1935 we can easily see that the car is actually the photographer's own car, a Citroen 1929 model. The car was used as a private car and the photographer lived in Drammensveien 20 in Oslo, when the car was registered in his name.
Similarly, you can now search for the name of the owner, registration number, etc. through our searchable entrance to Norway's car book 1935.
As mentioned, it is currently only possible to search for cars registered in the city of Oslo, but stay tuned throughout the fall, as new counties will be made searchable. The next county out is Østfold.
