On Thursday last week, the long-awaited first volume of Fræna Gard og Slekt (Fræna Gard and Genealogy) was published, covering northern and southern Bjørnsund (Gnr. 1 and 2). The book is 757 pages and has more than 700 pictures plus aerial photos and maps, at the back of the book there is a separate name register with more than 6000 names. Bygdebokverket now consists of 3 books, volumes 2 and 3 were published in 2004 and 2007 respectively.
Volumes 2 and 3 were written by Johan Julnes, but when volume 1 was to be written it was natural to ask Arve Hammerøy. Hammerøy has been actively involved in local history from Bjørnsund for about 30 years. To buy this book, check out The bookstore!
