Åsmund Svendsen has recently published a cultural history of Hvaler in the period 1945-2000, published by Aschehoug. The book focuses on the municipality, which is one of the country's largest cottage areas, but for the 4,000 permanent residents, Hvaler is more than just a vacation spot.
Hvaler already has 3 village books. 2 that deal with farms and families, and 1 that deals with the period 1800-1940.
