Why genealogy is important to Mormons

You may have used the sources available to genealogists on FamilySearch.org, from "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" or noticed that some church records on the Digital Archives have been made searchable using Ancestry, MyHeritage AND FamilySearch? The latter has a slightly different basis for making sources available than Ancestry and MyHeritage.
