Hans-Magne Eikeland has been working on a "Gene Bank" for Sunnhordland and Hardanger for several years. The genealogical bank is a comprehensive systematization of family history material based mainly on village books, but also supported by oral sources.
In total, the material comprises around 10,000 pages, much of which is searchable via Stord Library's website. On Wednesday, January 18, the Genealogy Bank was officially donated to Stord Municipality, which has also worked on the technical solution for the computer-based version.
