If you look up the Yellow Pages, you will find 479 people named Boge and 43 with the surname Boga. I have realized that not all of these were related to me, because the largest Boge/Boga branch comes from Bogøy in Samnanger. But my ancestors come from Strandvik in Fusa, and the family tree starts with Berge Anderson Dalland, who in 1865 married into the Boga farm in Strandvik through his marriage to Karin Marlene Engelsdatter Boga. They had three children.
The eldest of the children, Maria Legland, married Anders Haldorson Legland in 1885. They lived in Strandvik and had five children. Their descendants today go by the names Legland, Vik, and Krüger, and live in Strandvik, Stord, Bergen, Oslo, Stavanger, Moss, and Fusa, among other places. The second child was named Marta Havsgård. In 1909, she married Engel Havsgård. They lived their entire lives in Havskor in Fusa and had no children. The youngest son was Engel Johannes Bergeson Boga. He took over the Boga farm at the top of Strandvik after his parents. In 1897, he married Anne Kristine Lillevik. They had nine children, who today mainly call themselves Boga, Boge, or Nordeide. Their descendants live mainly from Austevoll to Stavanger, with an emphasis on Bergen, Stord, Karmøy, Haugesund, as well as various places in Hardanger and Eastern Norway.
I have also included an appendix about Anne Kristine Lillevik's parents and siblings, who came from Vik in Strandvik. One of her half-sisters, Marta Hauge, emigrated to America and settled outside Seattle, WA. She left behind four children and a number of grandchildren. Several of them have returned to Strandvik to see where their Norwegian roots came from. We also have family living in New York.
Bjørn is the fifth generation after Marlene and Berge Anderson Boga. The family tree consists of around 200 pages and contains over 300 photos of family members, listing more than 250 names of people who are all related.
-I have met many nice people. The most fun thing was that I was friends with the great queen of Hålandsdalen – Liv Grethe Skjelbreid Poirèe.
"I won't get rich from this, but I will be rich in conscience, knowing that I have made a solid effort for our descendants," concludes Bjørn Boge in Moss.
