After a year of testing, the Swedish service Trackuback was launched last week. The service stitches together your genealogical research with historical maps, archaeology, demographics, major historical events and local history.
November 17 saw the official launch of the service that has piqued the curiosity of our genealogist brothers and sisters in the east.
Behind the solution are two Swedes with an interest in genealogy and one with an interest in historical maps. Just over a year ago, their meeting would lead to the development of Trackuback.
With the help of funding from Vinnova's Innovativa startups, they have built a completely new service for genealogists.
For several months, test users have had access to the service, but now it is open to anyone who wants to pay for it.

Today the history platform Trackuback has its official premiere. Weave together genealogy with historical maps, archaeology, demography, major historical events and local history. The sources are co-visualized to create the contexts in which your ancestors lived. In short: Put yourself in the flow of history.
- "Trackuback came about because we wanted to create the tools that we ourselves lacked," says Hjalmar Granberg, one of the founders. "The development has been going on for two years, and in recent months a community of beta testers has gone through the platform. Now we're opening for real," he continues.
Today, the founders of Trackuback are also extra happy, as they have received development funding from Vinnova's call for Innovative Startups, stage 2. In connection with the premiere, the company is now embarking on a project for international markets in the US, Norway and Denmark. The project includes the development of a DNA module for visualizing historical DNA, showing how our prehistoric relatives populated the world. In the development project, they are collaborating with renowned genealogist Ted Rosvall, known from ”Who do you think you are?”, and DNA expert Peter Sjölund. Wikimedia Sweden is another important partner.
- "Trackuback is already a pioneering platform. We intend to become a leading international player in genealogy and history in the long term," says Mårten Swärd, map expert and co-founder of the company.
Trackuback is a startup company based in Norrköping, Sweden, consisting of Hjalmar Granberg, Mårten Swärd and Per Filipsson.
