Bygdebok for Lindås started with Volume 1 Myking parish, which was published in 1981. In 2000 came Volume 2 with Lygra and Hundvin parishes. With the publication of Volumes 3 and 4, the project of farm and ancestral records for the old Lindås municipality was completed, i.e. as the municipality was before it was expanded in 1964.) Volume 4 contains around 900 images, giving a varied impression of people, working life and cultural landscapes. The book contains tables, figures, maps and an index. It covers the farms Saltneset, Syslok, Skornes, Finnesbø, Sirset, Verås, Kårdalen, Lauvås, Rossnes, Tjukkhetla, Sundsbø, Tvibergneset, Knarrvika, Hellestveit, Risa, Keilegavlen, Keilo, Hope and Mongstad. The book starts with the first written sources we have for the 14th century. The sources are extremely sparse until the second half of the 16th century. The series of users mostly goes from then onwards. From the end of the 17th century, it is possible to find out the family connections, so that genealogical tables can be set up that go back to this time. The information in the book has been updated up to 2009.
