In 2014, Bjørn Rudolf died when the car he was in collided with a train. Until his death, he lived close to the train tracks, and it is also at Bjørn Rudolf's house that Kai Samuel begins his search in episode 5 of Unknown Heir.
At the house, Kai Samuel meets Kjell Jakobsen, who can tell him more about who Bjørn Rudolf was. «He liked things to be simple, quiet and calm,» says Kjell. If there was talk of family, he was quiet, «he was almost left on a sofa» (as a newborn), Kjell adds.
Not long after, Kai Samuel meets local historian Øivind Larsen, who takes Kai Samuel to Bjørn Rudolf's birthplace. He believes that his mother probably saw an advertisement in Aftenposten, where girls who were about to give birth were sought.
In 1929, Bjørn Rudolf's mother decided to go to Slitu, give birth to her child, and then leave on her own.
