Car books in Norway in the 1920s reflect a fascinating period in the country's transportation and cultural history. At the time, the car was a relatively new phenomenon, and car books served as important sources of information and guidance for the few, but enthusiastic, motorists in the country.

For historians and researchers, these car books provide valuable information about the proliferation, popularity and use of vehicles in Norway in the 1920s, contributing to a deeper understanding of the country's transportation and social history.

The work of transcribing the rest of the car book for 1927 continues and the next county out will be Akershus.

The picture above shows a car, possibly a taxi, waiting at the railway station in Fredrikstad. In parallel, a horse and cart are also waiting. Cars and horses could live side by side in the cityscape in some of the early days of the automobile.
