Book no. 5 will cover more than 1,500 families from gnr. 3 Kjerringnes to gnr. 9 Rødsand and, like the other books, it is richly illustrated with 250 photos. Åse Elstad has been the picture editor. She tells Sortlandsavisa that the board has received several thousand photos and that most of the photos that have not been used will be archived by Museum Nord.
The chairman of the village book committee has been Arid Inga. To the newspaper, he particularly emphasizes the work Borgos has done in the last three volumes to document the Sami family lines. "Until now, little emphasis has been placed on the fact that the Sami family and culture have played a significant role in the development of Vesterålen," he says.
Johan Borgos tells Sortlandsavisa that the amount of information for the village book board has grown with each volume. "The interest and participation of Sortlanders has meant that he has been able to ensure the quality of the information and therefore had the opportunity to prioritize the part of the story that until now has been almost forgotten.
