The two collections Car book 1925 and Norway's car book 1935 has now been supplemented with car owners from Vestfold. This addition brings the number of searchable car owners up to 68,380 people and the entire Finn Slekt service up to 257,649 records.
Few people could afford to own a car before the war. In 1922, only 13,080 car owners were registered, but the number grew rapidly. From 1922 to 1925, the number of car owners in Oslo/Kristiania increased by around 40 percent.
The number of car owners then doubled over the next decade in the capital. In Norway's car book from 1935, almost 11,000 car owners are registered as resident in Oslo.
Car books are not the first source genealogists turn to, but they are a fun way to add a little spice to your family history. Perhaps your relative was an early adopter of cars in Norway?
In Bilboka 1925 you can get information about:

- What address the owner was registered at
- Art, what the car was used for
- Factory (Which car brand)
- Where in the country the car was registered
In Norges bilbok from 1935 you can get information about:

Anders Beer Wilse on the road... again
In the picture above, you can see photographer Anders Beer Wilse's car being transported by Sprosod car ferry in Kviteseid. Today the place is better known as Spjotsodd pier and the car ferry has been replaced with a bridge that takes the cars across the water on highway 41.

Although photographer Wilse's car was registered in Oslo, the image above marks that the next (former) county to be published with its car owners here on Slekt1 is Telemark. We hope to be ready with Telemark at the end of April.
In the meantime, you can search these two collections or one of the others in our service Find Family. Remember that by using the menu item at the top, you can search each collection with a more advanced search.
It's free to search and see what hits the service produces, but to see the details of each hit a subscription to Slekt1 is required. Thank you to everyone who has already subscribed, you are helping to fill Slekt1 with even more exciting content.
