In “Fortegnelse over de i Norge indregistrerte motorvogner og motorcykler pr. 1. mai 1916” we find in addition to cars, 572 motorcycles with the name of the owner and their address. Together with the cars, these are now also searchable here at Slekt1.
In total, the collection contains the cars and motorcycles that were registered in Norway as of May 1, 1916, a total of 2,113 vehicles.
For the sake of simplicity, we have called the collection Bilboka fra 1916, even though it is primarily based on the publication “Fortegnelse over de i Norge indregistrerte motorvogner og motorcykler pr 1. mai 1916”.”

Now that the content has been manually transcribed and entered into the Find Genealogy database here at Slekt1, the various entries are more accurate when searching than in traditional OCR-processed digitizations.
OCR (Optical Character Recognition or optical character recognition) is a special program that can recognize letters, numbers and other characters in the scanned document and save the content as text instead of as an image.
The fact that the various entries in the book are stored in a database also makes it easier to get an overview of the time: For example, how many motorcycles were registered in Bergen? Or how many taxis drove around Kristiania.
