This time we are adding searchable cars and car owners from two counties. Everyone who was registered with a car in either Oppland or Buskerud has now been added to our searchable overview of car owners in 1930.
The searchable edition of Bilboka 1930 already contains cars and car owners from Akershus, Hedmark, Oslo and Østfold.
From Buskerud, all 2,738 cars and car owners that were registered at the time have now been added, and from Oppland 2,189 cars and car owners.
With these additions, the number of searchable cars and car owners is now up to 24,295. This is well over half of all registered cars in 1930.
The car book also contains motorcycles, trucks, buses and other vehicles that were registered.
Search in the Car Book from 1930 is part of the service Find Family, here at Slekt1.com
In the 1930 Car Book, you can look up:
- Owner's name and title/occupation, if applicable
- Place of residence (in some cases, you will also be given the exact street address here)
- The make of the car and what it was used for
- The car's registration number
Search all transcribed car books on Slekt1 (only for subscribers). In total, you can now search 163,245 cars and their owners, primarily from before World War II.
Car books are a fun way to follow relatives who owned cars in a slightly different way. They usually list the place of residence, type of car, and what it was used for.
In addition to telling more about private individuals, the car book is also a unique insight into which businesses (that owned cars) existed around Norway in 1930.
The work of transcribing the rest of the car book continues and the next county out will be Vestfold.
The illustration above shows Sonja Henie with her 1930 Cord. The car was not yet registered when the car book for 1930 went to press, but in Norway's car book from 1935 we find her. Then we can also read that she had an address in Ths. Heftyesgt. 52 in Oslo.
