Car books are a fun way to follow relatives who owned cars in a slightly different way. They usually list the place of residence, type of car, and what it was used for.
In 1926, 5,773 cars were registered in the city of Oslo, which was an increase from 5,169 cars the year before.
In addition to telling more about private individuals, the car book is also a unique insight into which businesses (that owned cars) existed around Norway in 1926. For example, Vinmonopolet, which was located in Rådhusgata, was a major consumer of cars. As many as 34 cars were registered at Vinmonopolet A/S in 1926.
It costs both time and money to have genealogical sources transcribed. This means that a search is free, but if you want to see more than the name of the owner, you must have a subscription to Slekt1. If you have a subscription, we reward you with the opportunity to search all car books at the same time.
